PRAYER OF THE MONTH
Lord Jesus, you are the Good Shepherd whose Merciful Heart always goes out to those who are straying and at risk of losing their way. Hear our prayers for our loved ones and for all who have wandered away from you. Through our prayers and our faithful love for them, gently lay them on our shoulders, so that together with you, we may bring them back. Bind and heal their wounds so that they may know your love in a deeper way and give you all praise and glory. Amen.
Dear Apostle of Prayer,
As June was dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, so July is dedicated to his Precious Blood. In 1 Peter 1: 18-19 we read that we “were ransomed” from sin and death “not with perishable things like silver and gold but with the precious blood of Christ” (1: 18-19). That makes you precious! Jesus shed his blood for you! He would rather die than to ever live without you!
Please keep that thought in mind. See yourself as precious. See others, your family and even people who are difficult to get along with, as precious. They are precious because Jesus shed His Precious Blood for them.
Your prayers and your daily offering are also precious to God. Thank you for joining us in this great work of praying for the needs of the Church and the world.
This will be my last letter to you. After 14 years as director, I have a new mission and Fr. William Blazek, S.J. will be taking my place. On July 29 I’ll be moving to western South Dakota to be the director of St. Francis Mission on the Rosebud Reservation. Jesuits have been there since Chief Spotted Tail invited us back in 1886.
I’ll always be an Apostle of Prayer, making my Daily Offering as soon as I get up in the morning, and including you in that offering of my day. It’s consoling to know that we will continue to be united in this special way through the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network. Please pray for me and I will for you. God bless you!
Sincerely in the Heart of Jesus,
Fr. James Kubicki, SJ
